Check Point Software Technologies acquired 1½ year-old Israeli startup Hyperwise Security for a reported $80 million.
The deal is a 4,000-percent return on the $2 million in funding provided by investors like former Check Point co-founder Shlomo Kramer, Giora Yaron, Trusteer founder Mickey Boodaei and Raskesh Loonkar
Hyperwise provides CPU-level threat protection at the pre-infection stage before malware has the ability to become active.
In a video, Check Point co-founder and company CEO Gil Shwed makes specific reference to threat-level protection for Intel chips.
According to a statement by Check Point, the Hyperwise team will immediately be integrated into Check Point, along with the company’s technology.
